The General Educational Development (GED) Testing Center at LaGuardia Community College is now open to the public. Read this Web page completely for information about test forms, test eligibility requirements, preparation classes and GED test information.
If you wish to take the GED test at our center, you must fill out the main test application (Attachment A) and mail it to the address listed below. (We do not accept "walk-ins"). We offer the GED test in English and Spanish. Please specify whether you want to take the test in English or Spanish. There are a total of 25 items on the application. Please make sure you carefully read all the items. Do not forget to sign item 24. Mail your application to us at least two weeks in advance of the date you wish to test so that we have enough time to process your application. Once we find an open test date for you, we will mail you a postcard confirming your test date.

If you did not pass the GED test and wish to test again, you must mail us a copy of the GED Test transcript you received from Albany along with the GED test application. Please make sure it is filled out correctly. After we receive your application you will receive a postcard confirming your test date.

OF EDUCATION GED TEST ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS Adults 19 years of age or older who have resided in New York State
for a month or more are eligible to take the GED exam. GED test applicants who are 17 or 18 years of
age may be eligible if at the time of testing your high school class has already
graduated or if you have officially been discharged from a U.S. high school
for a year or more. GED test applicants 17 or 18 years of age who
never attended high school in the U.S. should read this
page. Individuals who have been home schooled and wish
to take the GED test at our Center need to provide us with the following information.

A & B. CHANGING YOUR TEST DATE
If you need to change your test date you must resubmit
a new application with your two new preferred test dates. We can not
change the test date over the telephone. You must mail us the new application.

telephone number: 718-482-5989. GED TEST RESULTS GED Diplomas and test scores are issued by the New York
State Education Department in Albany. Test results are usually mailed to the
address you wrote in on the GED test application within 6 weeks of your GED
exam. If you do not pass the test, you will receive a transcript with your test
scores. You may also call the New York State Education Department at 518-474-5906
to find out whether you passed or failed the test. GED CLASSES For GED test applicants who failed the GED test and would
like to take classes before retesting, the Adult Learning Center at LaGuardia
Community College also offers GED
Classes.
