GED PREPARATION AND BASIC EDUCATION CLASSES

For GED test applicants who failed the GED test and would like to take classes before retesting, the Adult Learning Center at LaGuardia Community College also offers preparatory classes. We have both tuition GED classes and free pre-GED or GED classes. Individuals who feel they need classes before taking the GED test should also apply.

FREE (Basic Education / GED Classes)

To receive a registration appointment for the fall 2010 and winter 2010 semesters, please call us after April 15. At that time we'll have a new appointment date for our next registration. That registration will most likely take place during the summer.

HIGH SCHOOL EQUIVALENCY (GED) PREPARATION

COURSE REQUIREMENTS:
You must be 19 years or older to register for the course. During the registration you will take a 35 minute entrance exam in reading comprehension, a 20 minute math survey, and write a short essay. Only candidates with the appropriate reading, math and writing skills will be admitted to the class. You may be required to purchase a GED book and calculator. Consult your teacher for the book title and cost.

The registration process takes about two and a half hours. Please be on time. Latecomers will be turned away.
Please bring a pen, a pencil and some form of ID to the registration.
REGISTRATION WILL DEPEND ON SPACE AVAILBILITY.

The cost of this course is $225.00, plus a $15.00 registration fee for a total of $240.00. You may pay by check or money order on the day of registration.
Leave the check or money order blank until the day of registration.
Public assistance recipients may receive a discount and pay $127.50.
