GED PREPARATION AND BASIC EDUCATION CLASSES

For GED test applicants who failed the GED test and would like to take classes before retesting or the Adult Learning Center at LaGuardia Community College also offers preparatory classes. We have both tuition GED classes and free pre-GED or GED classes. Individuals who feel they need classes before taking the GED test of course should also apply.


Free GED Classes

Classed for the fall 2008 semester are full.

If you wish to enroll in our free pre-GED or GED classes in English for the upcoming semesters, you must call us at 9a.m. on Monday, November 3, 2008 for an appointment for testing and registration. The test will allow us to determine your class level. Please note that there will be only a limited number of appointments. Classes begin either in January 2009 or April 2009, depending on availability.

HIGH SCHOOL EQUIVALENCY (GED) PREPARATION

COURSE REQUIREMENTS:
You must be 19 years or older to register for the course. At registration you will take a 35 minutes entrance exam in reading comprehension, a 20 minutes math survey, and write a one-paragraph essay. Only Candidates with appropriate reading, writing, and math skills will be admitted to the class. You may be required to purchase a GED book with calculator. Consult your teacher for the book title and cost. In order to qualify for the course, you must attend a registration session on one of the following dates. Students will be placed in class on a first come, first served basis.

The registration process takes about two and a half hours. Please be on time. Latecomers will be turned away.
Please bring a pen, a pencil and some form of ID to the registration.
PLEASE NOTE: REGISTRATION IS ACCORDING TO SPACE AVAILBILITY, FIRST COME FIRST SERVED.

The cost of this course is $215.00 plus a $15.00 registration fee for a total of $230.00
Payable by check or money order on the day of registration.
Leave the check or money order blank until the day of registration.
Public assistance recipients may receive a discount and pay $115.00.

Morning and evening classes run for 20 sessions and Saturday classes for 10 sessions.
